A Weekend Get-Away!

Jeff and I have officially been together over a decade!  We celebrated 10 years on Thursday by booking a couple of nights downtown Dallas.
We stayed at the Fairmont and it was a beautiful hotel and such a relaxing stay.  I've always loved visiting the city since I was a kid.  It was really fun staying right in the heart of downtown.
We spent most of our time lounging at the terrace pool except for heading out to dinner.

The views were so pretty we would head back to the pool late evening and watch the sunset.
Our views from this chair....
The kids had two fun-filled days with Nana & Gramps!  We enjoyed getting pictures of them :-)  And we were soooooo happy to pick them up on Saturday!
It was such a treat to spend two days with just each other.  I'm so thankful for this man and the decade that we've had together.  SO much has happened in ten years and we pray for another decade (or five) of more amazing things to come!

More Summer in Phone Pics

Summer is flying by like it always does! Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.....
Most of our days are spent in a pool.  Love these three kiddos!
Ava & Caroline
Ava had the the best week at Vacation Bible School!  Three of her best friends were in her class and they got to worship in "big church" with all the grade school kids this year.
Keegan had a great time too!  He ran into his room every morning and barely said goodbye.  He would talk all about the short bread cookies and watching Veggie Tales in the car every day.  Ha!
Ava at Jack Carter Pool......This was the first year she actually went down all the slides.  So fun!
This little man has me wrapped around his little finger
I had to get new tires last week which is not so fun.  Ava was dressed like this before we left and begged to wear it.  I choose my battles carefully these days so Belle came and spent the afternoon twirling around Pep Boys :-)
Dinner and music on the lawn at Watters Creek
Listening to the band on the lawn.  She looks so grown up lately :-(

Keegan's First Rangers Game

On Friday night the four of us headed to Arlington to see the Rangers play the Reds.  Keegan was sooooo excited to go see a 'beesball game' as he calls it.  But all day he would talk about it and then say 'And then Keegan's turn to swing.....right?'  Sadly, the answer was no but we thought it was hysterical that he thought the coach could put him in to play too.  Ava had been twice but she was 7 months the first time and 18 months the second time so she didn't remember it at all.
Here they are all ready to go!

We arrived a little early and the kids wanted to walk all around the stadium.  Keegan was so amazed by it all! He was all smiles :-)
And he watched almost the entire game except for about 30 minutes near the end when he laid on Jeff for a bit.  They were both getting tired but they really wanted to stay for the fireworks show and we were so glad we did.  It was an awesome show and our seats had a great view.
My Sweet Girl.....She enjoyed some of the game although she says that her snow cone and the fireworks were her favorite parts :-)
Her first Rangers game....where does the time go?
We made it home around midnight and the kids slept until almost 9am Saturday morning which was such a treat since Mommy and Daddy were exhausted too!  They are both still talking about it so maybe we can make it to another game this season.

Ava's Dance Recital

Sunday was such a special day for our Ava!  It was a busy day with an early morning rehearsal, Father's Day lunch, and then back to the Eisemann Center for her recital but we enjoyed every minute of it!
This year we needed tight curls in Ava's hair so she slept in sponge rollers Saturday night.  I was so impressed by her willingness to do this.  We knew with her baby fine hair, there wouldn't be curls any other way!  Some of it fell during the day so Grammy used a curling iron and lots of hairspray before the show and it turned out great.
Ava stopped me in the middle of our day and asked "When I dance next year am I going to have another recital?"  She was so straight faced and I wasn't sure where she was going with it but I answered yes and she smiled and said "Ok, good!  This is the best day!"  Made my heart happy :-)

The last few weeks she has actually been dancing the moves to both dances around the house.  She has worked really hard all year and it's been so fun watching her learn and excel every week.
She had fun backstage with all of her sweet friends.  They are all so giddy on recital day!  So precious....
The theme this year was 'Dancing through Disney' which means they danced to Disney movie songs and Disney characters (the dance teachers) were in attendance! It was a fun show.
Ava loves to tap and she will tell you it's her favorite but I love to watch her dance ballet.  Her tap dance was to 'Zipiddy Do Dah' and her group closed the show with their ballet performance to 'At Last I See the Light' from our favorite movie Tangled and it brought us a few tears. Here are some pics of both performances....
After the show....
Ava LOVES trophies
Flowers from Daddy (and Nana & Grammy & sweet Presley! Ava's room smells very floral this week!)
Presley & Ava with Cinderella  (Ava's teacher Ms. Crystal)
A little love from Tinkerbell
And Jasmine
And Belle and Mrs. Potts
It's days like these that we can't help but say prayers of thanksgiving.  We are so humbled, so thankful, so undeserving of what God has given us.
It was such a beautiful Father's Day and we are so very proud of our little dancer and thankful for the family that we have around us to share this day with every year!
