Memorial Day & Last Day of Preschool

Memorial Day weekend was much cooler than usual this year.  It rained on Friday and Saturday so we cooked out with neighbors and didn't make it out to the pool until late afternoon Sunday when the sun finally came out for a bit.  Here are some pics of our first trip to the pool.....
The water was still a little too cold for me but the kids didn't think so.  We headed to the beach club Monday morning and I don't think the temp reached higher than 82 the entire time we were there.  It was breezy and cool but the kids had fun swimming and playing in the sand.  Keegan loved slide on the splash pad and Ava enjoyed jumping off the side of the pool and swimming back to the ledge.  It was a relaxing day!
They are getting so big!
Yesterday was Ava's last day of preschool!  She looks so much older than she did on her first day in August.
She has grown almost two inches and seems like such a big kid now.
Preschool was such a great experience this year.  Ava learned so much and made some great friends and we were both a little sad driving away for the last time.

I'm so excited that summer is here but it's crazy to think about how life is changing for us.  August can take it's sweet time getting here!

A Busy May!

Our days are so full lately that I feel like I'm barely keeping my head above water.  Ava is such a busy girl this spring and I'm trying to stay on top of soccer schedules, swim lessons, recital meetings, and end of school parties.  Everything will slow down in June and I can't wait to play poolside with my two kiddos for two and a half months with little else to do but hang out with our sweet friends!  As busy as our days are, it is so worth it for this smile......
We had our recital meeting and costume fitting last week since we are just a few weeks away.
Ava is in love with this year's outfit and I don't think these girls could look any cuter if they tried!

We just have one more soccer game this season.  It's been so fun watching her play.  She is twice as confident as she was last season and usually scores a goal or two which is always very exciting for her.  She has such a sweet little team and they have had a really fun season.
She had a great first day of swim lessons last week!
Even though it's a busy month we wanted her to start June swimming with confidence.
Her spring program at school was a couple of weeks ago.  It was mostly a display of what they have learned in body movement class.
Ava was so happy that Daddy was there to do a "silly dance" with her.
Splash Day is Thursday and I'll have to pick her up right after for Kindergarten Round Up at her new school! I'm trying to stay really excited about it so I don't fall apart.  So far so good.
This little guy stays pretty busy too.  He's always been a left handed batter but just the last couple of weeks we've noticed that he uses his left hand most of the time to draw as well.  What are the odds that we would have two lefties?
He always begs to "climb tree" at this park we ride our bike to.  I finally gave in last week and lifted him up to sit on some branches.  He thought it was the coolest thing ever.
He loves to grill outside with Daddy on the weekends!
And play with his little partner in crime.  He loves when Presley comes to play!
They were playing 'garden' today they said.  All the water from the water table made its way to the flower pots on the patio :-)
And of course he loves to play with his big sister.
They were 'cooking' up all kinds of yummy treats for us Saturday night.
The days are long but not long enough lately.  I need a couple more hours to feel like we have everything done and ready for the next day.  I guess things will be even crazier when Keegan starts school and sports.  I better adjust :-)
Jeff took this picture of the three of us Friday night which is so nice because I'm with them every day but rarely take pictures with them.   I am so, so thankful for these two. Time is flying by so quickly.  I'm trying to soak up these days and hopefully remember them in the years to come!

Life Lately

The weather has been beautiful lately!  Ava has been learning all about plants, insects and butterflies at school this month and I have never seen her so unafraid of (most) bugs.  I think it also helped that we read Charlotte's web last month too because spider webs don't seem to bother her much anymore either.  My Ava has never been one to touch bugs of any kind but a few days ago she called me outside to see a little ladybug she found....
And yesterday she brought home her sunflower from school to plant...
We've had a trampoline for about a month now and the kids absolutely LOVE to jump.  I think I've enjoyed it as much as they have and we even talk Daddy into jumping with us sometimes. We've had so much fun on this thing every day!

Sunday night our church hosted For King and Country in concert.  We love their music and it was such a great night of worship.  The kids ran around singing and dancing in the back most of the time.
Jeff has played softball on our church team every season for four years - except for this one because of his busy schedule with work and school right now.  They asked him if he could play in the playoffs Monday night since several were out and after three hours of playoff games they actually won their division championship for the first time ever!  Keegan loves baseball.  He enjoyed cheering Daddy on the first game but let's just say the late games were "challenging" for us.
Sometimes we go out for ice cream after soccer practice on Wednesdays. This is the result of a two year old left alone with an oreo blizzard in the back seat...
A few random pictures from around the house.....
Buzz Lightyear is often flying around
Mrs. Potato Head
And lastly.....our helpful little car washers :-)
