Ava's Dance Recital

Sunday was such a special day for our Ava!  It was a busy day with an early morning rehearsal, Father's Day lunch, and then back to the Eisemann Center for her recital but we enjoyed every minute of it!
This year we needed tight curls in Ava's hair so she slept in sponge rollers Saturday night.  I was so impressed by her willingness to do this.  We knew with her baby fine hair, there wouldn't be curls any other way!  Some of it fell during the day so Grammy used a curling iron and lots of hairspray before the show and it turned out great.
Ava stopped me in the middle of our day and asked "When I dance next year am I going to have another recital?"  She was so straight faced and I wasn't sure where she was going with it but I answered yes and she smiled and said "Ok, good!  This is the best day!"  Made my heart happy :-)

The last few weeks she has actually been dancing the moves to both dances around the house.  She has worked really hard all year and it's been so fun watching her learn and excel every week.
She had fun backstage with all of her sweet friends.  They are all so giddy on recital day!  So precious....
The theme this year was 'Dancing through Disney' which means they danced to Disney movie songs and Disney characters (the dance teachers) were in attendance! It was a fun show.
Ava loves to tap and she will tell you it's her favorite but I love to watch her dance ballet.  Her tap dance was to 'Zipiddy Do Dah' and her group closed the show with their ballet performance to 'At Last I See the Light' from our favorite movie Tangled and it brought us a few tears. Here are some pics of both performances....
After the show....
Ava LOVES trophies
Flowers from Daddy (and Nana & Grammy & sweet Presley! Ava's room smells very floral this week!)
Presley & Ava with Cinderella  (Ava's teacher Ms. Crystal)
A little love from Tinkerbell
And Jasmine
And Belle and Mrs. Potts
It's days like these that we can't help but say prayers of thanksgiving.  We are so humbled, so thankful, so undeserving of what God has given us.
It was such a beautiful Father's Day and we are so very proud of our little dancer and thankful for the family that we have around us to share this day with every year!

Summer!

We are only a couple of weeks into summer but we have fit a lot of fun into every day so far!  I'm slowing down these last few days.....starting to feel a little tired!  But I'm enjoying my time with these two so much.  Ava loves to be on the go and keeps us busy and you never know what is going to come out of Keegan's mouth these days.  He is cracking us up daily!  I should write a separate post about that.  He is loving having his sister around every day and so am I.  We've had some fun times with a lot of great friends already but I try to set aside a day for just the three of us to hang out and do something fun.  Here are some of my favorite summer pictures so far......
Ready for the pool!
Dancing in pajamas
Movie night
They love to pull the sofa bed out and make popcorn!
Baseball!  Keegan could play for hours at a time.
He loves to watch baseball on TV with Daddy too.
We've been watching the NBA finals lately and he is quick to tell us 'No, no.....Baseball please'  He's not quite as fond of basketball I guess!
I took the kids to see the morning kid movie at Cinemark on Wednesday and they were pretty excited about it.
All summer long our local theatre shows kid movies two days a week for a dollar in the morning.  Keegan had never seen a movie on the big screen and he was amazed.
He barely moved the entire time!  It was love at first sight.
Daddy surprised us and met us about thirty minutes in and Ava was so excited.
I took Ava to Cici's for an Icee and some air hockey one afternoon last week.
I'm not sure which she liked more :-)
We are enjoying our time out at the beach pool.
Keegan LOVES the little water slide on the splash pad this year.
We decided to take a paddle boat out when we were there on Saturday because it was overcast and not too hot.
It was a lot of leg work and the kids begged to head back to the pool for most of the ride so we probably won't do that again for a while. It was so beautiful coasting around the Adriatica though!  We've wanted to try it for a few years.
Last weekend we made a trip to visit my grandparents and Jeff's grandpa came in to town the next day so the kids had a weekend of great-grandparents.
I'm pretty sure these kids know they are very loved.
Last night Ava and I had a girls' night with our friends Amy & Abigail.
We had dinner at Blue Goose (which Ava thought was the funniest name!) and then to see the play Annie at the Frisco children's theatre.  It was the best night!  The girls did not want it to end.
Ava's dance recital was today and it was such a special day!  She is just amazing and we can't get over how grown up she seemed this year.  I will upload pictures soon to post.
We all start Vacation Bible School early in morning!  Ava's been asking when VBS would start for oh....about 11 months now so she is more than ready.  I hope Keegan will really enjoy it this year too.  Hopefully some of his sweet Sunday School friends will be there too this week.  I'm praying that God will work in the lives of all the kids there this week like only He can!
