San Antonio 2012

We are home from our San Antonio trip!  We drove in late Saturday night after a full day at Sea World.

We had such an amazing time this year!  The kids had a blast together and Keegan even slept perfectly until almost 8am every morning.  Jeff and I agreed it was our favorite vacation yet.  We picked Ava up early from school on Tuesday and arrived downtown around 5:00 at our beloved Emily Morgan hotel.  The kids love the view of the horse carriages parked on the street.
They actually had more fun than you can imagine in our hotel!  I could write an entire post on that alone.  They were so giddy and playful and cracked us up constantly.  I can remember how exciting hotels were when I was a kid too :-)
Our hotel is directly across from the Alamo so we walked around it for a while Tuesday night and Wednesday morning on our way to the river walk.

It was cool in the mornings but heated up pretty quickly in the early afternoon so we took a river boat ride early Wednesday morning.  It felt so nice and we beat the crowd so we had it almost all to ourselves.
Lunch at Casa Rio....

We took the kids to Rainforest Cafe for dinner.  It was our first time and I was so excited.  While Ava loved it, Keegan did not!  We sat directly across from the gorillas that came to life every fifteen minutes and lets just say Keegan was scared to death not a fan.  He was so glad when we left!

We spent Thursday at the San Antonio Zoo.  I'm partial to our DFW zoos but it was a great zoo with almost every kind of monkey.  And the elephants were very close!  We took a picnic and found a great place to sit and eat.  The kids mostly enjoyed the cute little petting zoo.

It was such a beautiful day of about 90 degrees.  That was soon to change!  We checked into our hotel near Sea World when we left the zoo and the forecast showed a slight cool front with no rain coming.  But standing at the Sea World gate Friday morning at 10am it was 48 degrees and pouring!  We hung out for an hour before getting rain passes for the next day and heading to our hotel to thaw out.
That night was my favorite part of our trip--Dinner out with our San Antonio family :-)  We met Eric's fiancee Savanna for the first time and we are so excited to be back next month for their wedding!
Eric, Savannah, Clifton, Lauren & Kaylee
Ava & precious Kaylee were so sweet with each other!
Cousins :-)
Saturday morning we woke up to a beautiful morning and had a great day at Sea World!  We saw four great shows and the kids loved the Sesame Street bay of play.  Ava even rode her first roller coaster!  Jeff and I turn into kids at Sea World.  We climbed and played and had so much fun.  It was a great day and a great vacation!

Six Amazing Years

Today is our 6 year anniversary.  We celebrated with a kidless Saturday night which meant dinner outside of the suburbs and a full night of uninterrupted sleep!
Maggiano's Northpark
It was fun and memorable but we are both happy to have our babies home with us today.  I'm so thankful for my marriage to Jeff and for all that has happened over the last six years.....

1 Year Later...
1 Year Later......
2.5 Years Later.......
We are thankful.  We are humbled.  We are excited about the years to come!

Arboretum, Baby Shower & A New Bike

Our busy weekend started on Thursday.  Jeff was able to take a day off and we headed to see the pumpkins & sculptures at the Dallas Arboretum.  Ava remembered it from last year once we walked in and she was so excited.  The weather was not great but it was cool and breezy (and a bit rainy at times) and the kids had a great time running around.

It was great to get a decent family photo since it's been about six months!
Ava took her camera and enjoyed taking lots of pictures too.  I think she took a picture of every Chihuly sculpture that was there and she actually caught several great pics of us too.  We uploaded them today and I thought I would post a few that she is quite proud of.....

Keegan and I headed to Keller for a very special baby shower on Saturday.  My best friend from college is expecting her first baby in November.  I had not seen Shelly in over a year and it was great to get to celebrate the soon arrival of sweet baby Nolan with her!  She & Justin were in the waiting room the day Ava was born and she still sends Ava books from time to time...In fact, pinkalicious and ladybug girl were both products of Shelly and I don't think Ava could imagine a world without either of those favorites :-)  We can't wait to head to Houston to meet sweet Nolan!

And lastly, Ava retired the tricycle this weekend.  She's had her eye on this pinkalicious bike for about a month and finally decided she wasn't afraid of a 'big girl bike.'  She says she will try to learn how to ride without the training wheels when she's five. Ha!  She looks so big on her new bike! She enjoyed it so much this weekend.
